Mr. McNicoll is the founding partner of MLV & Co. Prior to creating MLV & Co, Mr. McNicoll was a managing director at WM Smith and Cantor Fitzgerald & Co, in New York. At Cantor he played a key role in originating revenues and building the firm’s investment banking practice. Mr. McNicoll structured and executed various capital market transactions for small and large Real Estate Investment Trusts and companies in the energy, technology, biotechnology, and shipping sectors. Earlier in his career, Mr. McNicoll served as a vice president in the investment banking department of ABN AMRO and other firms including The Merchant Bank of Crédit Agricole Indosuez, and Bell Canada in Montreal, Canada. Mr. McNicoll received a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics from York University, in Toronto, Canada and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

Mr. Colucci joined the firm from DLA Piper where he was a partner in the Corporate and Finance group for over 10 years. Prior to being a partner at DLA Piper, Mr. Colucci was at Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft. During his 17 year legal career, Mr. Colucci developed a broad based corporate and finance practice that extended across capital markets, cross-border M&A, global infrastructure development and finance, and asset-based finance. In the capital markets area, Mr. Colucci has been at the forefront of developing several “At-the-Market Offering” products. He has been lead underwriter’s counsel in over 50 ATM transactions acting on behalf of 11 different investment banks. These deals raised more than $6 billion in equity capital for companies in the technology, life sciences, real estate investment trust, energy, transportation, and oil and gas sectors. Additionally, Mr. Colucci was intimately involved in structuring ATM products for both common and preferred stock as well as for dual listed issuers in Canada and Israel. Mr. Colucci has an AB from Cornell University, an MA from Columbia University, and a JD from the George Mason University School of Law.

Mr. Curhan joined MLV & Co to expand its focus to Technology sectors for ATM financings, as well as to broaden the firm's offerings to other strategic advisory and investment banking services. He comes to the firm from his position as President of CleanTech Capital Consulting, Inc., where he advised companies and their boards, often serving as a director himself. Prior to this, Mr. Curhan was President, Chairman of the Commitment Committee and Head of the CleanTech investment banking team of Merriman Curhan Ford & Co., which he cofounded and where he worked from January 2002 to January 2009. Merriman Curhan Ford raised over $5 billion for its corporate clients and provided advice on a number of M&A transactions during that time. Mr. Curhan brings over twenty-five years of experience in helping finance, manage, and advise fast-growing companies in rapidly changing technology industries typically backed by Silicon Valley venture capital. He has focused on identifying new business trends and investment themes throughout his career, including being the first sell side analyst to describe the Internet investment opportunity in the early 1990's, and was the driving force behind Merriman Curhan Ford's focus on Cleantech. For the first 18 years of his career, Mr. Curhan worked for a number of prominent technology-focused investment banks in San Francisco including Volpe Brown Whelan, where he was a partner and director of equities, Montgomery Securities, and Merrill Lynch. Mr. Curhan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Dartmouth College.

Brent Lewis is responsible for energy and infrastructure investment banking at MLV & Co. Mr. Lewis has over twelve years of senior-level corporate and project finance experience in utilities, energy and infrastructure, closing on dozens of transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $10 billion. His renewable and traditional energy and power experience includes solar, wind, carbon capture, gas, waste coal and biomass fired power, upstream E & P and ethanol. Mr. Lewis also has extensive experience in infrastructure finance, having advised on and raised capital for several large-scale toll road and airport privatizations domestically and overseas. Mr. Lewis has worked as a senior banker at Marathon Capital, and served as a Managing Director with Cantor Fitzgerald's investment banking group in New York, where he led the firm's global energy and infrastructure investment banking business. Mr. Lewis started his banking career with ABN AMRO, and while there worked in various project finance and investment banking roles. His last position was as Director in the bank's Project and Structured Capital Markets group, where he was responsible for overseeing, originating and executing global structured capital markets transactions, predominantly project financings in the energy and infrastructure sectors, but also on principal transactions where ABN AMRO was an equity investor. Mr. Lewis has committed significant time working pro bono in developing countries (finance and renewable energy) including Cambodia, Zimbabwe and Nepal. Brent received his BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and his MBA at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Conrad Vlak is responsible for real estate and related transaction opportunities at MLV & Co. Prior to joining MLV, Mr. Vlak was a director at CIT Group, Inc. in New York. At CIT, he ran the real estate structured finance group which provided structured debt and equity capital solutions for the acquisition, transition and development of real estate and related assets. Lending ranged from first mortgage to preferred equity positions. In addition, his primary responsibilities included providing financial and advisory services to corporate, institutional and private owners and users of real estate. Mr. Vlak joined CIT in January 2006 from American Real Estate Partners (AREP), an investment company controlled by Carl Icahn. In his role with Mr. Icahn, Mr. Vlak was responsible for sourcing and executing debt and equity investments in real estate assets as well as in the debt and equity securities of public and private companies with significant real estate exposure. Previously, Mr. Vlak worked for Rothschild Realty, Inc., the real estate principal investment and advisory subsidiary of the Rothschild Group. During his tenure at Rothschild, Mr. Vlak conducted all aspects of real estate investment transactions, including sourcing, structuring and executing asset, entity and portfolio acquisitions throughout the United States and Western Europe. His investment experience includes debt, equity and hybrid capital transactions in both the public and private market. Mr. Vlak was also responsible for providing strategic and financial advisory services to real estate and hospitality companies. Before joining Rothschild, Mr. Vlak spent two years as an associate in the real estate investment banking group at Merrill Lynch where he was involved in M&A and capital raising for public and private real estate companies. Mr. Vlak received a BA in Public and International Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University and received an MBA and an M.A. in International Policy Studies from Stanford University.

Mr. Huy Pham is responsible for biotechnology and related healthcare opportunities at MLV & Co. Prior to joining MLV & Co, Mr. Pham was a Senior Healthcare Analyst focused on biotechnology and life sciences companies at Basso Capital Management, a multi-strategy hedge fund located in Stamford, CT. At Basso, Mr. Pham was responsible for all debt, equity and hybrid security investments within the healthcare space. Before joining Basso, Mr. Pham held similar research analyst roles at Forest Investment and Highbridge Capital Management. Earlier in his career, Mr. Pham served senior management roles in Drug Product Development and Process Engineering at various biopharmaceutical companies including Genetics Institute (Wyeth) and AutoImmune Inc. Mr. Pham received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received an MBA in Finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

Seth Appel is a Managing Director in the firm's Investment Banking group and has over 19 years of industry experience. Prior to joining MLV & Co, Mr. Appel worked as a Director in the Investment Banking departments of Morgan Joseph TriArtisan and McMahan Securities. He has previously worked at Knight Capital Markets as a Vice-President of Listed Trading and spent 12 years as a market maker employing firm capital to buy and sell shares from retail and institutional investors. Mr. Appel holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree from The George Washington University, and received his M.B.A. in Finance and International Business from the New York University Stern School of Business. He is a CPA holder.

George B. Zavoico, Ph.D., has over 6 years of experience as a life sciences analyst writing research on publicly traded equities. He has most recently worked at Westport Capital Markets and Cantor Fitzgerald in their research departments and has received The Financial Times/Starmine Award two years in a row for being among the top-ranked Earnings Estimators in the Biotechnology Sector. His principal focus is on biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, specialty pharmaceutical, and molecular diagnostics companies engaged in discovering, developing, and marketing drugs and value-added diagnostics for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and cardiovascular and inflammatory/immune diseases and disorders. Prior to working as an analyst, Dr. Zavoico established his own consulting company serving the biotech and pharmaceutical industries by providing competitive intelligence and marketing research, due diligence services, and guidance in regulatory affairs. He also wrote extensively on healthcare and the biotech and pharmaceutical industries for periodicals targeting the general public and industry executives. Dr. Zavoico began his career as a Senior Research Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., moving on to management positions at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and T Cell Sciences, Inc. (now Celldex Therapeutics, Inc.). . He has a B.S. in Biology from St. Lawrence University and Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Virginia.

Christopher S. James, MD joined MLV & Co as a Managing Director in Research in October 2009. Within healthcare research, his initial focus will be on evaluating companies with validated science and strong growth potential in the CNS, cardiovascular, renal and metabolic therapeutic areas. Prior to joining MLV, Dr. James worked for Rodman & Renshaw, a full service investment bank focused in healthcare, as a Vice President and Senior Biotechnology Analyst covering small to large-cap stocks across a wide therapeutic spectrum. He was also a Healthcare Analyst at Trivium Capital Management, a $600 million long/short hedge fund located in New York City. In addition, Dr. James has held management positions in drug development and licensing at Daiichi Sankyo, a leading Japanese pharmaceutical company and at Defined Health, a business development strategy consulting firm. Dr. James is a licensed physician who received his medical training in Neurosurgery at Weill Cornell-New York Presbyterian Hospital. He earned a Medical Degree from Yale University School of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Cornell University.

Caroline V. Corner, Ph. D., joined MLV & Co as a Managing Director in Research in February 2011. Dr. Corner focuses on small- to mid-cap Medical Devices and Diagnostics companies within the broader Life Sciences sector. Dr. Corner has been an equity research analyst since 2005, when she became a member of Wells Fargo's research team covering medical technology companies. Since leaving Wells Fargo, Dr. Corner has been a Senior Equity Research Analyst at both Pacific Growth Equities and Montgomery & Co. where she covered the medical device and diagnostics sector, as well as regenerative medicine companies. Prior to entering equity research, Caroline held engineering and product development positions at Baxter Transfusion Therapies and Eli Lilly and Company. Dr. Corner holds a Ph.D. in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University, where she also did graduate course work at the Johnson School of Business. Dr. Corner received her B.S. in Biological Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech. Dr. Corner is based in San Francisco.

Kim M. Pacanovsky, Ph.D. joined MLV & Co as a Managing Director in Research in May 2010. Dr. Pacanovsky concentrates on small- to mid-cap independent exploration and production companies within the Oil & Gas sector. Prior to joining MLV, she co-initiated the oil and gas research practice at Collins Stewart LLC, the US-based full service investment banking arm of UK-based Collins Stewart plc. She was also an E&P analyst at Ferris, Baker Watts, Inc. and KeyBank Capital Markets. Dr. Pacanovsky has also worked as a consultant for Superior Well Services, an oilfield services firm. She has over 15 years of E&P equity research experience and holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from Stony Brook University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Michael Peterson is a Managing Director & Senior Equity Analyst on the firm's Energy Research team and has over 15 years of experience in the energy and commodities markets. Specializing in the macroeconomic relationships of energy commodities, his valuation work encompasses both aggregate market mechanics and firm level fundamental analysis. Prior to joining MLV & Co., Mr. Peterson covered Integrated Oil, Refining and Exploration & Production equities for International Strategy & Investment Group, Morgan Stanley and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. He also traded energy commodities for Duke Energy and equity index products at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for Prudential Securities. Mr. Peterson holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in International Finance, an M.S. from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Financial Markets & Trading, and a B.A. from the University of Denver in Political Science and Economics.

Rick Trotman joined MLV & Co as a Senior Research Analyst in November 2011 and covers the metals and mining sector, focusing on mid-and small-cap producers, developers, and explorers. Prior to joining MLV, Mr. Trotman covered the precious metals sector at HSBC Securities (USA) Inc and Barnard Jacobs Mellet USA. Mr. Trotman is a licensed professional geologist in Idaho and has worked as an exploration geologist for a number of the gold mining industry’s largest companies including Barrick Gold, Meridian Gold, and Yamana Gold. Mr. Trotman has a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Nevada Reno and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Washington State University.

Mr. Billhardt joined MLV & Co in May 2010 as a Senior Managing Director and Head of Institutional Sales and Trading. Mr. Billhardt has over 20 years of experience in the equity markets, providing expert advice and outstanding execution for institutional clients. Prior to MLV, Mr. Billhardt held a similar position at Madison Williams & Co focusing on the energy and healthcare sectors and was an integral partner in spinning off the Capital Markets Unit from the parent company SMH Group. Mr. Billhardt started his career at Paine Webber in 1987 and eventually ran all of Cash Equity Trading. He then spent 5 years at UBS after the two firms merged in late 1999 and was the senior member on the Healthcare Trading team. Mr. Billhardt received a Bachelor of Arts from Denison University and a Masters of Business Administration from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College.

Mr. Weiss has 20 years of experience in institutional equity sales, over which time he has developed strong relationships with both clients and analysts and in-depth industry knowledge, particularly in REITs, Energy, MLPs and Utilities. Prior to joining MLV, Mr. Weiss was at Miller Taback Roberts, LLC where he sold a range of equity and fixed income products. At Madison Williams & Co., (formerly SMH Capital) he was instrumental in building out an institutional sales team and covered long only and hedge fund accounts. Prior to Madison Williams, Mr. Weiss spent 13 years at A.G. Edwards & Sons where he was the top institutional equity sales broker from 2003-2007. He began his institutional sales career at First Manhattan Company in 1992. From 1984 to 1992, Mr. Weiss was a commercial lender with Pittsburgh National Bank and the former Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. Mr. Weiss received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University and his MBA from Columbia Business School.

Mr. Kristal has over 15 years of Institutional Sales Experience. His sales experience spans equity, fixed Income and derivative products. Mr. Kristal was most recently at Merriman Curhan Ford as a senior vice president of institutional equity sales. Prior to joining Merriman, Mr. Kristal spent over six years at Rodman and Renshaw as a Managing Director institutional sales and he was also a vice president at TD Bank Group where he held various sales positions. He began his career as an analyst with Reuters in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Kristal earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Windsor, Windsor Ontario and a B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario. He is a CFA charter holder.

Daniel DePalma is our Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to joining MLV & Co, Dan worked as a financial service professional, and CPA with over 20 years of experience. Dan was a successful Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of a Broker Dealer, a Registered Investment Advisor and has had successive management positions at Bear Stearns and Salomon Smith Barney. Dan holds the following degrees: Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance and Investments and Accountancy from Bernard Baruch College and a Masters in Business Administration from Molloy College Graduate School of Business. Dan is a Certified Regulatory & Compliance Law Professional (CRCP) from the Wharton School - University of Pennsylvania / FINRA program. Dan’s other certifications and licenses: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional (IACCPsm) and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
